Using Cartoon as the voice for SAFE STEPS Kids
Cartoons are a powerful medium when it comes to transmitting empathy and understanding. While they entertain, they also play a crucial role in shaping opinions, habits and influences for kids and young adult.
Kids’ level of interest in a message and their perceived relevance to them on a personal level are factors influencing their motivation to engage and learn, and ultimately adopt them as habits.
Topics
SAFE STEPS Kids uses multiple platforms including on-air cartoon videos, infographics, an informative website (safestepskids.com) and print material that can be shared through community-based activities and partnerships. Core to the programme is a series of 50 seconds public service announcement (PSA) educational videos produced jointly by Prudence Foundation and Cartoon Network, with all messages approved by IFRC. The videos reach 35 million households in Asia everyday.
